In this new column, we’ll provide links to practical online resources that can help retirement counselors in their one-on-one meetings with clients or seminar/workshop participants. If you know of a resource that will benefit other retirement counselors, send an email with a link to me at info@infre.org. Thank you in advance for your help!

1. A Retirement Plan Rollover Chart published by the 401khelpcenter.com. This chart provides an easy reference to what the IRS regards as permissible when rolling funds from one type of retirement account to another. There are DOZENS of other valuable resources on this site for plan sponsors and plan advisors. For more, visit here.

2. Social Security has a page specifically for retirement advisors and financial planners. The site has sections to help planning with retirement, disability, survivors and Medicare benefits. A retirement counselor can access a client’s Social Security benefits online, now that benefit statements are no longer mailed. Visit www.socialsecurity.gov/financialplanners

3. Denise Appleby, President of Appleby Retirement Consulting, is a long-time active supporter of InFRE and is a CRC® Certificant. She holds four other certifications in retirement planning and plan administration. Denise publishes a Retirement Plans Comparison Chart for Small Business every year, so sign up on her resource rich Appleby Retirement Dictionary to receive notifications of annual updates! Appleby Retirement Consulting provides technical consultation on the rules and regulations that govern Traditional IRAs, Roth IRA,s SEP IRAs, SIMPLE IRAs and Defined Contribution plans, including 401(k)s and 403(b)s.
